Hiking while singing

Music Program

Distributed to participants on the day of the event

Following the success of the last two editions, the Valloire Baroque Festival is once again offering a Singing Hike.

The hike will begin in the morning on an easy trail accessible to everyone, followed by a picnic lunch. It will feature performances by Florence Schiffer, an opera singing teacher who will lead us in singing canons, and readings by Philippe Longchamp, a poet known for his unique works.

Hiking while singing…

… According to Florence Schiffer

“During short breaks along the way, we’ll learn or revisit simple traditional folk songs from various countries, adjusting the difficulty level to suit the hikers in the group: beginners are welcome. You can take home the sheet music so you can sing along with your family! To help us get ready, I’ll share some singing tips and fun sound effects to warm up our voices!”

… According to Philippe Longchamp

“Poetry is writing that surprises. Otherwise, if there is nothing surprising about it, is it really poetry? It follows, it seems to me, that poetry has, more than other forms of writing, the freedom to stray from the rules of language, provided that the reader can still follow along. I therefore hope to offer hikers a few pleasant surprises. Undoubtedly related to the theme, perhaps even baroque, though not always Italian.”
