Educational Initiatives
Since 2012, the Valloire Baroque Festival, in partnership with the Espace Culturel Le Savoie, has been presenting an educational concert in Saint-Michel-de-Maurienne.
This concert, which is open to audiences of all ages, is also specifically designed to spark an interest in classical music among young people. It thus fulfills the association’s goal of “fostering an appreciation for this music among the residents of Valloire and the surrounding area.”
There has been no shortage of wonderful experiences since the company was founded!
One highlight was the very pastoral concert *La Volière royale* by Alice Julien-Laferrière, who played bird songs on the violin… while photos of the birds were projected.
There was also *The Magic Violin*, performed by the SyLF string ensemble, accompanied by a luthier who assembled a violin that was played at the end of the concert; his work was filmed and projected onto a large screen.
We should also mention the Fitzwilliam Ensemble’s performance *Bric Baroque à Brac*, featuring an actress and blending music, storytelling, poetry, and magic—not to mention the memorable baroque percussion concert by Marie-Ange Petit’s ensemble, which kicked off this series in 2012.
Since 2022, the Festival’s educational initiatives have been expanding. The Festival is developing the concept of cultural bridges through performances and concerts that blend baroque music with modern aesthetics: hip-hop dance in 2022 with Ophélie Gaillard and Kelly Mota, slam poetry in 2023 with La Bellezza and Slamouraï, and circus arts in 2024.
