Mi Ombre Mi Soleil

Mi Ombre Mi Soleil is a duet dedicated to dance music. Its repertory, made up of compositions by Solène Riot and Sigrid Guillaume takes its inspiration in folk music (mazurkas, polkas, bourrées…), yet allows for ample jazzy improvisation. It combines period instruments (cornetto, recorders, bagpipes) with a diatonic accordion.
The duet has appeared at a number of venues, both in France and abroad.

Solène Riot

Solène Riot, together recorder and cornetto player, is a graduate (honours) of The Royal Conservatoire The Hague (Netherlands) and of the Paris Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional. A multi-instrumentalist, she also plays bagpipes from the Centre region, three hole flute and tabor, and period transverse flutes. In 2003, with recorder trio “T’Andernaken Consort”, she wins a jury prize with honourable mention at the Musica Antiqua competition in Bruges.
Throughout her career, she has performed in musical productions with Jordi Savall, Jean Tubery, Marc Minkowski, Emmanuelle Haïm, and Vincent Dumestre. She regularly appears in concerts with the Ensemble vocal de Notre-Dame de Paris with which she has made a number of recordings, or La Bellezza, an ensemble on which she also serves as artistic director. Holder of a State Diploma in Early Music, Solène taught for 11 years at the Conservatoire Erik Satie in Paris, and now teaches at the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional de la Cité des arts in Chambéry.
